What is the life of one when compared to the salvation of many, Phillip Gant asks, visualizing himself as a savior, a giver of life, a god. The decorated pilot roams New York stalking and abducting his prey. He harvests his victims and flies their organs to Canada. Upon returning home he sinks the deceased in watery graves, but first he claims his prize. Handsome and charismatic, Gant adds another disciple to his congregation of adoring worshippers. Who can stop the International Harvester?

This was a frightfully entertaining and current story that pulls the reader in from the first chapter. It is well written and full of drama, suspense, and action. It's storyline is very relevant today. I would have given it five stars if there had been a little more detail on how the "international harvester" had developed his particular brand of "crazy." Maybe there will be a sequel to get the rest of the details. (I hope so!) But all in all, I believe Mr. Erickson told an engaging tale with believable characters and I look forward to more of his writing in the future. (The near future I hope.)Product details

International Harvester eBook Matt Erickson Ash Arceneaux Pam Slade Reviews
Took a chance on this author and thrilled I did! Loved his style and character, Mr. Erickson has a way of keeping the reader interested in the premise of how this man really justified what he was doing. Sometimes you felt sorry for him even though he was a truly deranged character. The book left off as thought, hopefully, there might be more to come...I'll be waiting

I'm a handful of books a year kind of reader. Im glad to share how happy I am that this was one of them. The author and his character Phillip hook you good and early in this suspenseful well written thriller. The story line is adeptly written
keeping a brisk pace with the central characters own identnities and their unawaring significance to each other till the very end. An excellent entertaining read that will leave you asking for more. Well done !
A totally unsuspecting gem from first time novelist Matt Erickson. Mr. Erickson has skillfully mastered the mystery/thriller genre. His discripitve writing and page turning suspense make this a must read for fans of psychological thrillers.Erickson has you hooked from the very first page and takes you on a thrill ride that does not end until you have finished, wanting more. Can't wait to see what his follow-up has in store for his readers.
There are books that you can just breeze through and think it was good. Then there are books that you want to take your time with that get you hooked into the characters and make you feel like you are in the story with them. This is definately one of those books. The author captures your attention right away with the thrilling series of events. I found myself very conflicted, wanting to know more about the main character but at the same time not really wanting to know him. This is a definite must read and I hope there will be more to come from this author.
It hooked me from the beginning. The introduction of Philip Gant in the first chapter showcased Erickson's ability to use the written language to create a vivid picture in one's mind enabling the the reader to hear, smell and feel the opening scene. At first I thought the book may be classified as a horror story but soon realized it was a dramatic supsense thriller that keep me turning page after page--wanting more. The attention to explicit detail kept the reader well-informed and made the plot interesting and easy to follow. Philip Gant is a character I soon won't forget and look forward to reading more from Matt Erickson...perhaps a sequel???
International Harvester is a completely absorbing read from beginning to end. I couldn't stop turning the pages. The prose is very accurate and descriptive. Sometimes, I found the book quite chilling. I could almost feel Philip Gant breathing down my neck.... Sinner or Saint ? Sacrifice some for the betterment of many ? Or completely mad and deranged? The author, Mr. Erickson manages to leave the reader pondering both the good and evil in his character- in a most intriguing way. I highly recommend the book.
This first novel by Matt Erickson is not just a fine effort for a first novel, it is a fine effort standing alone, without any qualification. If the 20th century introduced humanity to the concept of the banality of evil, then Phillip Gant is its embodiment. Philosophically, Gant's fundamental maxim - that "small sacrifices are acceptable if they serve the greater good," is not so much a corruption of utilitarianism as it is a willful decision on Gant's part to deny the humanity of his so-called "donors." As a work of narrative fiction, Erickson's prose "reads" like a well paced conversation that renders the horror of what Gant does more jarring. Highly recommended.
